Common Trees is the work of Dani Burbrook – artist, teacher, collaborator.
I am deeply curious about the world, about how things work, about why humans behave as we do, about the interconnectedness of everything, and about what we might do differently to create fairer, safer, kinder and more just societies. I want to know what the barriers are and what we have not yet considered to overcome them.
My roots are in the arts, as a maker of ideas, of paintings, drawings, images and objects. In the performing arts I have worked onstage, alone, in collaboration, and backstage, helping to bring the brilliant work of others to life. Work in the community cultural development sector led me to education, where I have worked as a teacher and leader in public mainstream and alternative education settings for more than 25 years.
The content of Common Trees is created entirely by me. The words are my own, the ideas carefully crafted into sentences, are entirely my own. The drawings are created by my hand, the photographs taken on an old Canon, or an equally ancient iPhone. I do not use any kind of AI – except to help me with the technical side of setting up this website.
I welcome thoughtful conversation on the ideas you find here.
